Belief Statement-August 2014
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit
We believe in one living, true and eternal God, who exists in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (The Trinity)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for our sins, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven.
We believe that all who accept by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior receive the Holy Spirit.
We believe the only way to eternal life is through faith is in the finished work of Christ on Calvary and that salvation is by grace alone, without works.
We believe that Christ will come again and receive all believers unto Himself.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, trustworthy, living and authoritative Word of God.
We believe the Bible is God’s Divine inspiration for preaching, teaching, and living the life of a Christian.
We believe that the church exists as the Body of Christ. It is an autonomous local congregation made up of born again believers. As followers of Christ, we are to promote, encourage, and spread the Gospel to others.
We believe that every believer is gifted by the Holy Spirit to live for the interests of God and His Kingdom focusing on the Great Commission—sacrificing so that people may hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Gathering to worship and praise the Lord together is important to us. Therefore, we believe in a hospitable church which is not confined to a building. It is a welcoming place where people feel at home and where we are encouraged to show love, care, and support to all.
We believe in and observe baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe in missions in our community, state, nation and world.
We believe in religious liberty. We stand for a free church in a free state. Neither one should control the affairs of the other. We support the First Amendment to the United States constitution, with its “establishment” and “free exercise” clauses.
The Christian Life
We believe that as Christians, we want to build a solid relationship with God through prayer, Bible study and fellowship with others. Our faith will grow through continued discipleship and ministering to others.
Life as a Christian does not mean one is able to live a life without sin; it means that we know we are saved from sin by Jesus Christ.
We believe that the 10 commandments are good, basic, moral laws, as instructed by God because He knows what is best for us. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand them through the teachings of Jesus Christ and to strive to follow them.
We believe that it is important to have a cooperative spirit. As followers of Christ, it is important to help those in need, showing them God’s love while doing so, and telling them about the Gospel (to the ends of the earth!)
We believe it is important to treat all people with brotherly love and respect. Fellowship with others is important as we encourage, support and guide one another.
We believe that marriage and family are foundational to society and that they are God’s idea. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between God, a man, and a woman. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.
